End of Semester

Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and didn't slip into a tryptophan induced coma. WAC had it's last official meeting of the semester last night and we talked about some of the exciting things coming up for the spring. In the meantime, Christmas break is quickly approaching! To end the semester on a fun note, WAC is hosting a movie night next Wednesday the 7th of December in place of our normal meeting. The movie will begin at 6 and we are watching Easy A. It is a extremely funny and witty movie and it should be a lot of fun. There will be snacks and soda so come and join us! Afterall, who can turn down free snacks. :) Happy Holidays and good luck on your finals!

Miss Representation

Hey everyone! It is a new semester and there are new and exciting things happening in WAC! Tonight CARE sponsored the showing of the documentary Miss Representation, a film that delves into how the media misrepresents women, undermines women in power and alters our entire world view. It was a remarkable experience. Words can't express the horror I felt at some of the scenes depicted in the film. This isn't even about feminism, this is about being a human being and realizing that there is something fundamentally wrong with the picture today's media paints. This film would make anyone think twice before stereotyping or underestimating women. Spring Semester!

Welcome Back Everyone!

WAC's first meeting this semester will be Thursday, Feb. 10 at 6 pm in the Women's Center. If that time works for most people, we'll continue to meet on Thursdays at 6 pm, until further notice. At the first meeting we'll be discussing our events for this semester, including Women's History Month, and the "I *heart* Female Orgasm" event on April 7.
