Women's History Month

In other news, Happy Leap Day! Whoo! And because today is Leap Day, that means tomorrow is the first day of March, Women's History Month! I already posted a calendar for the month and it is full of awesome activities! Also at our meeting last week, we met up with a woman from the campus radio station and we did some audio then while some other members went on the radio for WAC! National Feminist Pride Day

Happy National Feminist Pride Day! This is a wonderful day and we will be celebrating by having a table in Reeve Union from 11:30-1:30 and 4:30-6:00. Come show your support and come to our celebration afterward at the Women's Center. There will be free pizza, board games, and some awesome feminists! (This is in place of our normal meeting at 6 p.m.)

Spring Semester!

Hey everybody! First post of the new semester. If you missed it we had our first meeting of the spring semester last week. We talked about the big things coming up for WAC and discussed Women's History Month, Feminist Pride Day, and the Vagina Monologues which is our big project for next year!! Our meetings will continue to be Wednesday's at 6 for this semester so hopefully everyone can make it. --Also, happy belated Valentine's Day! I hope you had a lovely day filled with big romantic gestures like over-stuffed bears and surprise flowers! If you are like me and did not have those things, well, I hope it was a beautiful Tuesday!

End of Semester

Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and didn't slip into a tryptophan induced coma. WAC had it's last official meeting of the semester last night and we talked about some of the exciting things coming up for the spring. In the meantime, Christmas break is quickly approaching! To end the semester on a fun note, WAC is hosting a movie night next Wednesday the 7th of December in place of our normal meeting. The movie will begin at 6 and we are watching Easy A. It is a extremely funny and witty movie and it should be a lot of fun. There will be snacks and soda so come and join us! Afterall, who can turn down free snacks. :) Happy Holidays and good luck on your finals!

Miss Representation

Hey everyone! It is a new semester and there are new and exciting things happening in WAC! Tonight CARE sponsored the showing of the documentary Miss Representation, a film that delves into how the media misrepresents women, undermines women in power and alters our entire world view. It was a remarkable experience. Words can't express the horror I felt at some of the scenes depicted in the film. This isn't even about feminism, this is about being a human being and realizing that there is something fundamentally wrong with the picture today's media paints. This film would make anyone think twice before stereotyping or underestimating women. I encourage you to visit their website (http://missrepresentation.org/), view the film and see what you can do to make a difference.

Spring Semester!

Welcome Back Everyone!

WAC's first meeting this semester will be Thursday, Feb. 10 at 6 pm in the Women's Center. If that time works for most people, we'll continue to meet on Thursdays at 6 pm, until further notice. At the first meeting we'll be discussing our events for this semester, including Women's History Month, and the "I *heart* Female Orgasm" event on April 7.

Thursday meeting

Hi Everyone,

We decided at the last meeting that Thursdays are better for meeting time. So, this Thursday we'll be meeting at 6 pm in the Women's Center. We'll be making plans for Take Back the Night and Love Your Body Day. Join us!

2nd meeting

Our second meeting of the semester is tomorrow, Wednesday Sept. 22 at 5:30 pm in the Women's Center. We'll be planning Love Your Body Day activities, and discussing potential speakers to bring to campus. Come join us!

First meeting-Fall 2010

Our first meeting of the fall semester will be this Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 5:30 pm in the Women's Center. We will be ordering pizza, planning events, selecting officers, and welcoming new members. Come join us!
